Come prepared to learn the secrets of habit stacking, along with practical nutrition and lifestyle tips that will leave you feeling energised and in control, setting you up for all-around success as you get back to work, family life, or simply into a routine after the razzmatazz of summer.

But first, you may be curious: who is Ruchi Bhuwania Lohia? We sat down with Ruchi and asked her a few questions to help you, our readers, get to know her a little better. If, after reading this, you still have some burning questions and can't wait until the 24th of September then join us on Instagram Live Friday, September 20th at 4:30pm and see Ruchi in action. She’ll be talking about why so many of us find it hard to transition to a Back-to-Term routine and how her talk on the 24th can help you make this year's transition as smooth as silk.

VW: What is your background and how did you find yourself in the wellness world?

Ruchi: I am a registered Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach, and the owner and founder of Wellness with Ruchi (www.wellnesswithruchi.com). I studied nutritional therapy for four years at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London, graduating with distinction. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Before transitioning to nutritional therapy, I was a senior executive who spent 18 years working in mergers & acquisitions within London’s fast-paced finance sector. I am also a qualified chartered accountant.

So how did I find myself in the wellness world?

In my early 30s, I became increasingly drawn to healthier living and ageing. This growing interest was fuelled by a couple of my own health challenges, including the development of an autoimmune thyroid condition and back surgery.

I consider the back surgery a turning point in my life. Coming out of rehab, I knew I wanted to take back control of my health and age healthily, and a new passion for wellness was born, led by a renewed purpose.

So off I went, and embarked on my “career 2.0” in my fourth decade of life. It is my utmost privilege to support my clients on their unique health journeys.

VW: What are your favourite things about wellness and nutrition that drive and inspire you to work in this field? What changes would you like to see made as to how wellness is viewed and how it is approached and talked about?

Ruchi: I have experienced firsthand the transformative power of nutritional therapy. By embracing small and incremental nutrition and lifestyle changes, I have been able to reverse my autoimmune thyroid condition, tame my pain and inflammation, and make a complete recovery after my back surgery. So I know how simple yet effective nutritional therapy can be. I achieved this while managing a busy job, meeting deadlines, and handling everything else that modern life throws at you.

Now, I am continually inspired by my clients’ transformative health journeys and feel passionate about guiding them toward a nutrition and wellness path that empowers them to live vibrant and fulfilling lives in all aspects. Whether it's through my personalised programmes or talks, nothing makes me happier than seeing my clients thrive mentally and physically.

What changes would I like to see?

My mission is to raise awareness of nutritional therapy and transform nutrition and wellness into a continuous lifestyle choice (rather than something transient). And for those in doubt, this doesn’t mean eating broccoli three times a day, spending hours (that you don’t have) in the kitchen, or completely cutting out your favourite foods. Quite the contrary! It’s about making nutrition and wellness simple and achievable—a necessity I’ve come to understand deeply after nearly two decades of juggling multiple hats. This unique perspective drives me to create plans that fit seamlessly into my clients' lives, which I believe is crucial for helping more people embrace healthier, more balanced, and joyful lives, and advance preventive health in the long term.

VW: What is your favourite big wellness topic for this moment?

Ruchi: At the moment, my favourite wellness topic is “moderation”. In a world full of extremes — whether in diets, exercise routines, or lifestyle choices — moderation is often overlooked, but it’s incredibly powerful. Many of my clients come to me because they are fed up with calorie counting, following rigid meal plans, or extreme exercise plans that are too complicated, time-consuming, or simply unsustainable for them.

I believe in embracing a balanced approach to eating and exercise that accommodates your lifestyle and personal preferences while still supporting your health goals. Moderation allows this by promoting a positive and healthier relationship with food (and exercise) and preventing the cycle of deprivation followed by overindulgence.

In my view, integrating moderation into daily life supports a holistic approach to wellness and is crucial for creating consistent habits essential for the lasting success of any health and wellness journey.

VW: Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to answer our questions.
